Delta Dental awards $500,000 to MobileSmiles Oklahoma

Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation has awarded Oklahoma Dental Foundation (ODF) a $500,000 grant to fund MobileSmiles Oklahoma.

MobileSmiles Oklahoma, a nonprofit dental care program that utilizes two (2) RV-style mobile dental units to deliver free dental care and education across the state of Oklahoma.

This grant completes ODF’s capital campaign to purchase a brand new MobileSmiles unit and covers operational costs of the program for an entire year.

“At Delta Dental of Oklahoma, we do one thing—help people get dental care,” said John Gladden, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Oklahoma. “Many Oklahomans do not have dental benefit plans, so each year we take profits from the previous year and put them into a Foundation that is focused on getting dentistry in the mouths of people that don’t have access. We are pleased to champion essential programs like MobileSmiles Oklahoma that promote oral wellness across the state.”

Established in 2006, MobileSmiles Oklahoma has served over 11,000 patients and delivered more than $3 million worth of donated dental services. The program partners with nonprofit organizations to deliver dental care and education to those they serve.

“ODF is excited to continue working with the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation to improve the oral health of all Oklahomans, said John Wilguess, executive director of the Oklahoma Dental Foundation”

The new MobileSmiles unit will have improved filtration and dual suction chairs to safeguard dental professionals and patients against the spread of diseases, including COVID-19.

This is the second largest grant DDOK Foundation has ever awarded in a single year, and is part of more than $2.3 million in grants distributed to date in 2021 to free and low-cost clinics, dental education programs and various oral health initiatives in the state of Oklahoma.
