About the Program

This giant molar crusades across Oklahoma visiting schools and special events while extolling the virtues of good dental self-care. Using a giant toothbrush, fun props, and volunteers from the audience, the Captain’s presentation is lively and interactive.

In 2000, the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Charitable Foundation launched the Captain Supertooth program as part of National Children’s Health Month, annually observed in February. Since then, the program has expanded to year-round touring, reaching thousands of students throughout the state each year.

The goal of the program is to defeat cavities before they begin by teaching children the life-long benefits of good oral hygiene and inspiring them to take pride in their teeth.
  • The Captain Supertooth program is specifically designed for students in Kindergarten through third grade. (See Resources for Daycares and Preschools.)

  • Each child receives a complimentary toothbrush and tooth brushing chart.

  • The presentation is approximately 25-35 minutes long, depending on the crowd size and interaction.

  • Single or multiple performances are available for each school, depending on venue size and school schedule.

  • Average group sizes of 75-100 in a larger venue are preferred and encouraged; larger group presentations are possible, but best performed with a microphone and sound system. Visits to individual classes are also an option, but a larger venue tends to make a stronger impact on the students in addition to being more fun!

  • The Captain Supertooth program coordinators will work with your school administration team to devise the best possible program for your school.

  • The program is funded entirely by the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Charitable Foundation and is provided completely free of charge to the schools.

The Captain Supertooth Program is for all Oklahoma students in kindergarten through third grade. The Captain wishes he could go to every school every year. Although we now have four Captains on the road, our resources are limited. Please see the Captain Supertooth Request Form for selection criteria and guidelines. We appreciate your understanding as we try to reach as many Oklahoma kids as possible!
