Captain Supertooth Program
"Captain Supertooth" Traveling Oklahoma in Recognition of National Children's Dental Health Month
In conjunction with National Children's Dental Health Month, the Delta Dental Plan of Oklahoma Charitable Foundation launched the "Captain Supertooth" Program - an oral hygiene education program designed for the benefit of first and second grade students across the state of Oklahoma. This is the
seventh year of the program.
The Captain Supertooth Program consists of professionally trained actors with costumes and props traveling the state to deliver 20-minute educational programs in a fun, entertaining, and hands-on format. In addition to the performances - the Foundation gives away toothbrushes to
more than 17,500 students at the performances.
"We know the importance, and the long-term benefits, of promoting good oral health care early in a child's life," said John E. Gladden, President and CEO of Delta Dental Plan of Oklahoma. “We also know the importance of being a good corporate citizen and giving something back to the community. Our subscribers and the dental community across the state have been very supportive of Delta Dental Plan of Oklahoma and this is just on way our way of showing our appreciation and helping to assure that the trend of fewer cavities among our children continues."
The Captain Supertooth program has educated more than 50,000 1st and 2nd grade students since the program's inception in 2000.
